Your Growth Profile: See How You're Changing
How Feeling tracks your emotional patterns, NVC skills, and personal growth over time — turning self-reflection into visible progress.
The Problem With Self-Growth
Personal growth is hard to see from the inside. You might feel stuck even when you've changed significantly. Or you might not notice a pattern that's been running your life for years — until someone reflects it back to you.
Journals help, but they're hard to search and harder to synthesize. Therapy helps, but you only get your therapist's perspective during sessions. What if you had a living map of your emotional landscape — one that updated itself every time you practiced?
That's what Feeling's Growth Profile does.
What It Tracks
Your Growth Profile is built automatically from your activity across Feeling — coaching sessions, dialogue practice, and daily check-ins. It's not a scorecard. It's a mirror.
Emotional Patterns
As you use Feeling, the system identifies recurring emotional patterns across your sessions. These aren't generic labels — they're specific observations drawn from what you've actually shared:
- "Tendency to suppress frustration in professional settings, then experience it as exhaustion later"
- "Pattern of anticipatory anxiety before family gatherings, followed by relief when they go better than expected"
- "Habitual self-criticism when unable to meet others' expectations"
Seeing your patterns laid out clearly — with the specific contexts where they appear — often creates its own kind of insight. Many users say this is the first time they've seen their emotional habits named so precisely.
Recurring Themes
Themes are the bigger currents running through your life. While patterns describe how you react, themes describe what you're working through:
- Navigating boundaries with family
- Fear of vulnerability in relationships
- The tension between ambition and self-care
- Learning to ask for what you need
These themes evolve over time. A theme that dominated your first month of practice might fade as you develop new skills, while new themes emerge as you go deeper.
NVC Skill Development
Every dialogue practice session generates an NVC analysis — scoring your use of observations, feelings, needs, and requests. Your Growth Profile tracks how these scores change over time.
You might notice that your observation scores improved quickly (you learned to separate facts from judgments), while your request scores are still developing (it's harder to ask clearly for what you need). This isn't a grade — it's information about where your growth edge is right now.
Open Questions
Some questions from your coaching sessions don't get resolved — and that's intentional. Your Growth Profile carries these forward as open questions, each tagged with when they first came up:
- "What would it look like to prioritize your own needs without guilt?" (raised Mar 15)
- "How does your relationship with your father shape how you respond to authority?" (raised Mar 22)
These questions create continuity. When you return to a coaching session, Freya already knows what you're sitting with.
The Growth Narrative
Perhaps the most meaningful part of your profile is the growth narrative — an AI-generated summary of your journey written in natural language. It's not a clinical report. It reads more like a letter from someone who's been watching your growth with care:
"Over the past six weeks, you've moved from a place of frequently suppressing your emotional responses — particularly around work stress — to beginning to name your feelings in real time. Your early sessions focused heavily on a recurring conflict with your team lead, where you noticed a pattern of absorbing others' frustration as your own responsibility. By your fourth coaching session, you started experimenting with expressing your needs directly, and your dialogue practice scores for 'request' improved from 3/10 to 6/10. A significant theme has been learning that setting boundaries isn't the same as being selfish — an insight that first emerged in your March 20th session and has continued to deepen."
This narrative updates as you practice more. It references specific sessions, concrete changes, and real examples from your journey — never generic affirmations.
How It's Built
Your Growth Profile isn't a static document — it's a living system with several layers:
- Session summaries — After each coaching session, the key themes, patterns, and insights are extracted and stored
- Pattern tracking — Emotional and behavioral patterns are identified and tracked across sessions, keeping the most recent and relevant
- Dialogue analysis — Your NVC scores from practice dialogues are aggregated to show skill trends
- Check-in data — Your daily feelings and needs selections reveal emotional rhythms over time
- Narrative synthesis — All of this is woven into a readable growth narrative that updates with meaningful new activity
The system is designed to show you change over time, not just a snapshot. When you look at your profile after a month of practice, you can see where you were, where you are, and the path between.
Why Visible Growth Matters
There's a well-documented phenomenon in personal development: the gap between where you are and where you want to be feels like failure, even when you've made real progress. Without a way to see your trajectory, you only notice the distance still to go.
Your Growth Profile closes that gap. It shows you:
- Patterns you've become aware of (even if you haven't fully changed them yet)
- Skills that have measurably improved
- Themes that have shifted or resolved
- Questions that have found answers — and new questions that have emerged
This kind of visible progress creates a positive feedback loop. Seeing that your NVC observation scores went from 4 to 7 over three weeks doesn't just feel good — it motivates continued practice.
Private and Yours
Your Growth Profile data stays private. It's used to personalize your coaching experience (Freya references your patterns and growth in sessions), but it's never shared or used for training.
If you're using private mode, your profile data stays entirely on your device. If you're using the server-synced mode, you can export or delete your data at any time.
Start building your Growth Profile — every check-in, dialogue, and coaching session adds to your understanding of yourself.
